Beautiful Interior
For 2008, the new Escape offers a comfortable and incredibly spacious cabin, to accommodate five-adult passengers. The latest model's interior cabin is accented with Ford's signature Ice-blue lighting. The all-new Escape model ensures a refined and smooth ride, with a much quieter interior cabin. The rear seats of the compact SUV are 60/40-split fold to provide ample space for cargoes. The fabric used for the seat surface is recycled and Escape has been the first ever vehicle to include such a feature. Also, there is an optional navigation system that features an Audiophille stereo system, displaying the hybrid operation. Along with it the dashboard has a fuel economy screen that displays instant and average fuel economy.
Under the Hood
With a standard 2.3 liter, I4 engine that gives 153 horsepower Ford Escape gets a new life. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is also standard. This engine provides 22-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. The limited model has an optional 3.0-liter, V6 engine with a four speed automatic transmission. This engine gives 200 horsepower, providing 17-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. With such a powerful engine one thing is assured and that is satisfactory Ford Escape performance.
Safety
While redesigning the small crossover, safety was kept in mind. The Safety Canopy System and the front-seat-side airbags promise a more safe and comfortable ride. Safety features like antilock brakes, Traction Control (TC) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) are some standard safety features available for all new models of the Ford Escape.
